Functional Geometry

A reconstruction of Escher's "Square Limit"
This is another attempt to draw an image similar to Escher's woodcut, "Square Limit".

I first drew this in 1982, based on a fairly complex decomposition.

I revised it in 2002, based on something closer to Escher's actual drafts.

This is my 2011 attempt. This time I have something much more convincing.

Not only is the description a simple application of Functional Geometry, but this time the colour geometry is also right.

The fish are coloured, as Escher appears to have coloured them, using only three colours.

The mathematical description of the arrangement of fishes is about six equations.  I'll describe that somewhere soon.
